iPhone Safety Mode Due to Springboard Crash!

I have experienced this when I unlocked my iPhone after installing cydia apps. If you are in a similar situation and you haven't restored it yet using a backup, or restored it back to its original settings, then this solution will help you.

The method I used involved using the "iPhone explorer" application since the other method, which involved using cydia didn't work for me. It was mostly because cydia was kind of glitchy on my iPhone and I gave up on trying to fix it since I rarely used it anyway.

Using iPhone explorer

Connect your iPhone to your computer
Click the root directory
Click the library folder
Click the mobile substrate folder
Click the dynamic library folder
Remember the app that you earlier installed that caused the springboard crash. If you installed numerous cydia apps like I did, try to remember them all. There are two types of files in the folder(dylib and plist). Select the ones that have the name of the cydia app you recently installed (both the dylib and plist files). After selecting them, delete them.
Exit "iPhone explorer"
Disconnect your iPhone from the computer
Restart your iPhone
Turn it on, unlock it and the iPhone should be back to normal mode.

Note: Make sure that you know what you are doing. The steps above serve as a guide so do it at your own risk. I have tried this method and it has worked.

Set a Wallpaper for Each Page on Your iPhone

As an iOS 4.2.1 iPhone user, I have searched and tried numerous ways to set different wallpapers on each spingboard page on my iPhone. If you're like me and you are interested in finding out how I did it, then here it is:

The methods used here require the use of cydia apps and not ipa apps. iPhone newbies using them like me should be aware of the "use at your own risk" rule. For non-jailbroken iPhones, I think there is no method in which you can set a wallpaper for each of your springboard pages.

Method 1: Using Winterboard

On your computer, make a folder and place the wallpapers you want to use inside it. Change the name of each wallpaper to "pagex.png". Replace the x with the number of the page.

Example:
Page 1 = "page1.png"
Page 2 = "page2.png"

After renaming them, connect your iPhone to the computer. Open an ssh application like "Iphone explorer" or "cyberduck". I use iphone explorer since it is easer to use for me. Transfer the folder to the themes directory.

Open winterboard on your iPhone and respring it using the new theme. The name of the theme will be the name of the folder.

If this method doesn't work, then try

Method 2: Using Bosspaper

Bosspaper can work with or without winterboard. Well, that is what I read about it. The application allows you to pick wallpapers stored in your photo app, the default app that comes with the iPhone.

Set the enable Bosspaper option to on, pick the wallpapers you want to use, adjust the transition time and respring the iPhone. If it works, the wallpaper on your sprinboard pages should change for a certain number of seconds.

This method didn't work for me and if it didn't work for you also, then try

Method 3: Using PerPage

Install PerPage and PerPageHTML on your iPhone using cydia or through iPhone explorer. I read in one of the forums in the Internet that PerPageHTML should be installed with PerPage to get PerPage to work. I am not sure if this is true but it is better to be safe.

Once you have installed both of them and respringed your iPhone, the PerPage icon should appear. Tap it, slid through the pages at the top, tap choose to select a wallpaper in your photo library, and respring it.

This method has worked for me and it should also work for you. If it doesn't, then your iOS version might be higher than 4.2 or other apps might be conflicting it.

Error 623

Recently, I came across a new error while using my internet browser (Mozilla Firefox). Whenever I opened it, the error would always pop-up and the browser would crash.

To solve it, I did various things:

1. I reinstalled the browser. After I reinstalled it, I ran the browser. Unexpectedly, the error still popped up.

2. I searched the Internet and tried finding how other people solved it. Luckily, I found out how at Microsoft Support.

Error 623: The system could not find the phone book entry for this connection.

I read about it there and did these steps:

1. Go to Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet Connections
2. Select "Set up or change your Internet connection"
3. Under the connections tab, select "Never dial a connection" (if you use DSL)
If you use dial up connection, select your dial up connection and click the "Set Default" button. Click apply and Ok.

After I did these, the error did not pop up again. If you also happen to encounter errors on your Windows OS computer, try visiting this site: http://support.microsoft.com/

If you don't find the answer there, you can still search for the solution through the thousands of websites out there.

Shorten that URL!

You will notice most deep link URLs being usually long. By using these tools, you can shorten them:

Using them is fairly easy. You just paste the URL that you want to be shortened on the input box, and click the shorten link.

Aside from giving you a shorter URL, it also provides stats on how many people have clicked the link. So if you want to post links, try using these tools.

Meta Tag Your Site

In designing a website, you will work with a lot of tags such as the Meta tags.

Examples of Meta tags that you should consider placing in your website are:

meta equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"
meta name="keywords" content="keyword,keyword,keyword"
meta name="description" content="A short summary about what the site is about"
meta name="robots" content="Index,Follow"

Here is a short description for the Meta tags:

The content specifies the information for that meta tag.
The keywords attribute of the tag lists the keywords for your site. When users type in a word in the search engine, your site may appear on the search results if the word used are these keywords.
The description attribute is used by search engines as the summary that will be shown below your link in the search results.
The robots attribute determines which pages of your website the search engines can crawl in.

Whether the website is just for fun or for business, take your time in finishing it. Meta tag it. Optimize it. Create elegant designs. And lastly, add useful stuff for your visitors.

As you browse through countless website, you may have seen this button:

If you have, then you may have recognized that this button is made from Facebook with the small "f" icon beside it. The reason why I posted this is because as I visited one of my favorite websites, I happened to find this icon on their website.

add a - if you want the search results to leave out a certain term

use specific terms to narrow down your search

if you need a serial number, add 94FBR as one of the key words (I'm not sure if this works)

Some of my favorite ones are Yola, Wix and Weebly. With Yola, creating a website is easy with the drag and drop widgets. For website owners interested in making a flash website, then Wix would be the best option.

Once you have created the website, be sure to regularly update it with new content and improve the design to make it easier for users to navigate through the website.

Finding specific songs in the Internet to listen to used to take me so long. I had to search countless pages before I could finally find the song that I wanted to listen to. However, I was able to find a website that made it a lot easier. I bet you're interested in finding it out.

Constructing a Sentence in Romaji (Part 1)

A simple sentence mainly consists of :

1. Subject
2. Predicate

Example:

I am reading a book.

Subject: I
Predicate: am reading a book

In Romaji:

I = Watakushi / Watashi
Read = Yomu
Book = Hon
Is, Are, Am = desu
Was, Were = deshita
*Wa usually follows the subject of sentence

Watashi wa hon o yonde imasu.

*this example may be quite advanced for beginners but this example will example will give an overview on what you need to learn next.
Take note on how hon (book) is used as a direct object and on how the verb yomu (read) is changed into yonde (reading)

Another example:

This is a book.

This = Kore
That = Sore
That over there = Are

Kore wa hon desu.

That's all for now. I hope you learned something and try to translate these sentences into Romaji:

That is a book.
That over there is a book.
This is a cat. (Cat = Neko)
That is a dog. (Dog = Inu)

Basic Nippongo (Japanese Language)

Niponggo is the name of the Japanese language. Basically the language uses different kinds of characters when writing. The different kinds are:

1. Kanji
2. Katakana
3. Hiragana
4. Romaji

For most words, there is usually an equivalent Kanji character.
There are around 2,000 to 3,000 Kanji characters that are being commonly used.

Example:
English: strong
Kanji: 強

For Katakana characters, these are characterized by short, straight strokes. There are approximately 48 Katakana characters.

Example:
English: read
Katakana: ヨム

For Hiragana characters, a more cursive form of handwriting is used. There are also approximately 48 Hiragana characters.

Example:
English: read
Hiragana: よむ

Romaji is simply the representation of Japanese characters into Latin alphabet characters. Romaji is also used to show how Japanese words are pronounced.

Example:
English: read
Romaji: yomu

For the past month, I have been trying to create some games. A lot of programs have already been made to make the process of developing games easy so that even people who have no knowledge or experience can create simple or awesome games.

Here are some programs I have tried:
1. Mugen - for developing fighting games

Mugen has already been out for a few years now. A lot of tutorials and resources about Mugen have already been made by other users in the Internet so making a game with it has been easy.

2. RPG Maker XP - for developing role-playing games

There are various versions for RPG maker and RPG maker is one of them. It can allow the creation of characters, battle styles, maps, and even events.

These are the only programs that I know of that can be used for game development. If i find another program, I'll probably try it.

It is always good to remember that social media is a medium where other users interact in the Internet. Practicing social etiquettes online can greatly help anyone become successful in the Internet.

In my previous post, I said that I would announce the topics that I would be using for this blog. I had thought about some topics that I wanted to use but I had a hard time deciding.

When I researched on the Internet on how to start a blog, most of them said that the blog should focus on a specific theme. I do agree that a blog should focus on a specific theme so that the blogger can focus on the theme and make posts about it. After reading it and taking some time to decide on the theme of my blog, I guess the theme of my blog will be about my hobbies and interests.

To get my blog started, I found a topic on the Internet that I have been interested for a while.
